What Sets It Apart
There is a lot to like about the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance tire. This is the tire that replaced the older Goodyear Efficient Grip model, which was a very popular option. Since then, however, Goodyear has also released the next version of this tire, the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2, which means the regular performance version is not as readily available as it used to be. If you can find a set, however, you might be able to get them for a lower price than you might expect, and without giving up much on performance compared to the updated version.
The Efficient Grip Performance tire from Goodyear excels in several key areas. First, it does a great job with handling, taking corners, and breaking while on dry roads. This, of course, is one of the most important things for a summer tire. If it happens to be raining, this tire will also help you to avoid aquaplaning, which is essential for safety. Finally, the performance tire does a surprisingly good job at boosting your fuel efficiency, so you can get every mile out of your gas.
Comfort and Performance
These are surprisingly comfortable tires for a summer performance model. They do a great job at absorbing the various shocks that are generated from driving to leave you with a smooth ride that you will really enjoy. The road noise generated with these tires is not bad either, though certainly not the best available.
In terms of performance, there is a lot to love about these tires. They do a really good job in all aspects of driving on dry roads. This includes effective breaking, maintaining grip when taking corners, and performing well during acceleration. They do all this while still rolling smoothly to help improve your overall efficiency.
Safety and Durability
These tires are very safe when driving during the summer. As mentioned above, they do a great job on dry pavement, but they are also pretty good in the rain. While not a category leader for breaking or handling on wet roads, they will definitely keep you in control unless you are really trying to push the limits of your vehicle (which is never recommended in the rain anyway).
The durability of these tires is one area where they are lacking. The tread life is not as long as you might want, though that is not always a surprise on summer only tires. They also don’t come with a great warranty, which again is a hallmark of summer tires. If there are any problems with the tires for the first six months, you can get them replaced, which is nice. Just do not expect them to last as long as many all-season models.
Who Its For
Overall, these are good tires that most people will be very happy with. They are designed for sedans, so if you drive this type of vehicle and like to push things a little bit, you may love the Efficient Grip Performance tires.
Since this model has already been replaced by a new and improved version (the Performance 2’s), you may be able to find these on sale. If that is the case and you can get them for a good price, they are a great option to consider. If you have to pay full price for these tires, it will almost certainly make more sense to buy the updated version to get the various improvements for the same basic cost.
